Rain – For my girls

I ran in the rain today and got drenched

In the peaceful tickles of cold

On tired limbs weighed down by worry and hurry…

Each cascading finger slowly urged peace and laughter

From hungry depths

And I found a puddle to stomp in…

My brisk run rapidly slowed to a casual stroll

And my eyelashes

became mesmerized by lounging droplets…

With each giggle, I swallowed

And the taste of fresh laundry tantalized again…

Embracing the breeze my umbrella remained closed

Arms outstretched,

I let the rain wash away each care and tear…

I was four again.
